About the event
We've restructured our popular (re)Introduction to Watercolor workshop into a two-part series to give participants more time and mental space to experiment, absorb and practice new techniques. As always, total beginners are welcome.
Inhale (Part I) will focus on understanding and familiarizing ourselves with the basic tools and components of a simple watercolor practice and getting familiar with basic watercolor techniques (wet-on-wet and wet-on dry).
Exhale (Part II) will help participants develop their own building blocks for furthering their own personal relationship to the medium. Exercises for this workshop will vary from session to session - participants are welcome to repeat this session as they often as they would like.
Due to the current gathering restrictions our in-store workshops are temporarily on pause, so we're also taking this course online in the hopes that it will help everyone enjoy more offline time. We highly recommend taking these two workshops in sequence, and if possible, taking them as close together as possible.
**ALL PROCEEDS FROM THE MAY 9 AND 10TH ONLINE WORKSHOPS WILL GO TO SUPPORT SECOND CHANCE FOODS, BASED IN THE HUDSON VALLEY.**
Second Chance Foods is a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing unsold, un-served, and aesthetically imperfect food and distributing it in an effort to reduce food waste and food insecurity. They collect food from farms, grocery stores, restaurants and other purveyors in the Hudson Valley Region and distribute it directly to community outreach organizations that provide meals to people who need food the most.
---
We provide all materials for our in-store workshops but for our online workshops, you'll need to make sure you have your computer/tablet set up for a Zoom meeting and all the materials we'll be using on hand.
A full list of supplies needed will sent with your confirmation email. For the course, we recommend all participants purchase our Watercolor Starter Kit or equivalent (good quality watercolors, watercolor brush and watercolor paper). Other items on the list are regular household/office items that should be readily available, if you don't have them on hand, we're happy to help you improvise.
Optional (but fun) items to have on hand:
