About the event

We're opening 2025 with our 7th (!!) round of The Artist's Way. If you're looking for a little structure and a heavy dose of communal inspiration to keep going through dark and weird times, we've got you.

Julia Cameron's trusty book The Artist’s Way is one of the best creative tools we've come across.  This book, first published in 1992, is a collection of exercises and explorations undertaken over 12 weeks to unlock and bypass creative blocks & fears, and to get you to start doing instead of listening to your own version of creative static.  More on the book is here, here and here.

Every week, each group will be meeting online to check-in, share experiences and work on weekly tasks together.  We love being able to offer this online format to help you navigate in and around your everyday schedule, and to bring together like-minded souls from near and far. All you need is a copy of The Artist's Way and a notebook to write in.

The Artist's Way Correspondence Course will run for 12 consecutive weeks, starting January 26th. Participants will choose ONE group to join:

SUNDAY AM (10 to 11:30AM) with Kathlyn and Susan

This group meets starting January 26th. This group session is especially for parents and caregivers who are trying to find time to nurture a personal creative practice.

SUNDAY PM (5 to 6:30PM) with Pat

This group meets starting January 26th.

MONDAY PM (7 to 8:30PM) with Twinkle

The Monday PM session is for those who identify as Black and BIPOC and meets starting January 27th. The Monday PM will not meet on 2/17 to accommodate those who wish to attend our BIPOC Open Studio session. Scheduling accommodations will be discussed among participants to allow for attendance at future BIPOC Open Studio sessions.

Our Course Facilitators -

Pat Angerame is an educator, and has designed programs to integrate movement and the arts into core curriculum for special needs populations.  She is a fiber arts enthusiast, newbie uke player, sourdough wrangler and sometime writer. Pat will be co-facilitating the Sunday PM session.

Twinkle Burke is an actor, writer, educator, homeschooling parent and leader. She has facilitated various Arts in Education programs in schools and for different populations of all ages.  She did The Artists Way facilitated by Julia Cameron and has been a part of an online International Artist’s Way “Grad” group for over 20 years. She continues to expand her creativity by taking classes and practicing different mediums including drawing, watercoloring, and fiber arts to name a few.  She is leading the Monday PM session.

Kathlyn Carroll is a librarian, knitter and a fan of playing with clay, pens and new sketchbooks. She is the mother of three young children and is always trying to find the right balance between parenthood and personal creative pursuits. Kathlyn will be co-facilitating the Sunday AM session.

Susan Trotiner Conway has a background in fashion design, and loves to experiment with all kinds of mediums.  She is currently focusing on playing with clay and making life an adventure with her two young children. Susan will be co-facilitating the Sunday AM session.

Grace Lo is the owner of Supplies for Creative Living, artist, lapsed landscape architect and lover of all things furry and/or green. This will be her 4th time doing The Artist's Way and she's excited (and a little worried) about what it will uncover this time around. Grace will be co-facilitating the Sunday PM session.
