Winter Brush Making / Mark Making
Inspired by the book A Day So Gray, (Lamba & Marley), available at Split Rock Books- We will look for all the colors that we can still find in deep winter: “silver splashes on bright yellow.,dots of orange, vines of black, sticks of licorice red, lines of purple, squiggles of gray, gems of twinkling silver, and stomps of green” We will learn how to make simple paint brushes from found natural materials. We’ll use our foliage and twig brushes and bright paint to transform a gray drawing into a colorful one with a variety of lines, brush strokes and textures. Together, we will practice looking a little closer and deeper to find the colors and coziness on a winter day. We will have all the materials you need, and you can also bring 1 or two found pieces of winter foliage that you might want to incorporate into a brush!
