About the event
Join us for a springtime immersion of our most favorite series A Creative Practice, as we explore and invent new ways to play, dream and experiment with watercolors, ink, pencil, collage and more.
For most of us, the goal of artmaking is not to end up on the walls of a museum, but to insert a pocket of creative play & exploration into our everyday lives. Over the course of this 4-part series, we'll deepen our connection to the vibrant green world around us, tap into the richness of our mysterious inner worlds and maybe even begin to forge new paths and habits for the summer months.
This time around, we are centered around the theme of Gathering and rendering real life forms onto paper. We'll take inspiration from colors and shapes straight from the seasonal farmer's market, add buds, blooms and clippings from your garden or walks in the woods, and gather around our filled-to-the-brim workshop tables to make and share as a group.
Each session will start with an exercise or two to get you inspired and includes plenty of quiet time to help you sink just a bit deeper into your own creative practice. We will be using elements from each session to inspire the next (and each other!), but no worries if you need to leave a little early or miss a session - everyone's creative practice looks a little different and stepping away can be just as valuable as stepping in.
Whether you aspire to an art practice as a way ground and relax, or to record your morning coffee or garden, we think A Creative Practice: Gathering helps answer the never-ending question of how to keep going after you've started. Having some experience with watercolors will be helpful but not required. Creatively curious beginners are very welcome.
Light refreshments will be served, all materials will be provided.
Participants may want to bring a watercolor-friendly sketchbook and have their own preferred watercolors, pen and/or ink handy to use during class, but this is not required. Workshop participants receive a 10% discount to the shop throughout this class series.
